Global Portable Product Marketing Manager
JOB DESCRIPTION
This person will report to Product Marketing Director, be based in San Jose CA, and travel worldwide 30% of the time. The Product Manager will be responsible for the Product Marketing of RAE’s Global Portable Product line as well as increasing the brand penetration into the distribution & sales channel. Responsibilities include: managing product line revenue from launch through obsolescence to maximize customer adoption and market share; delivering market requirements documents; defining, packaging and promoting customer solutions consisting of products and services; maximizing field and channel sales effectiveness through compelling messaging & positioning, worldwide launches, sales tools and training, working with ww RSM’s to identify and sign new distributors. This is an excellent opportunity with a large, growing product line.

Product Leadership tasks and responsibilities

	•	Responsible for the assigned Product Business Plan, and Life cycle to maximize market share & Revenues.
	•	Collect and synthesize inputs from vertical marketing group, Business units, engineering, sales, technology and the market to lead the assigned products and business direction.
	•	Implement DFM (Design For Manufacturing), DFS (Design for Service), DFL (Design for Logistic) approach for assigned products.
	•	Be the Company’s Product Evangelist!

Product positioning tasks and responsibilities

	•	Responsible for TAM, SAM, growth rate, market penetration, SWOT, and competitive analysis.
	•	Maintain cognizance of competitive activities, changes in their marketing strategy or tactics, and general trends that could affect product sales.
	•	Responsible for proposing RAE’s product strategy in response to competitive changes in the marketplace.

Pricing tasks and responsibilities

	•	Manage and optimize the long-term competitiveness, market share, and ROI of assigned product line.
	•	Monitor product profit margins and work with responsible parties to execute corrective actions as necessary.
	•	Work with Manufacturing to develop a cost reduction plan for each product.

Product Sales Support and Distribution tasks and responsibilities

	•	Assess and recommend optimum distribution channel strategies.
	•	Visit customer sites and team with Design Engineers, vertical marketing group, Applications to propose product solutions.
	•	Develop the right sales tools by teaming up with vertical marketing group, BU’s, Marketing communications group.

Product promotion tasks and responsibilities

	•	Contribute to the marketing communications strategy and ensure that appropriate marketing materials are available.
	•	Deliver and support product collateral for field sales and applications teams

QUALIFICATIONS
Education

•

MS in Electrical or Chemical Engineering preferred or BSEE / BSChemE equivalent combination experience.

Experience

	•	Must have experience in at least one of the following area: gas detection, wireless systems, networked systems, or instrumentation.
	•	3+ yrs. Related experience in Product marketing, Applications engineering or Field Services Engineering, and/or Product Engineering.
	•	Skilled with MS-Office Suite, knowing Salesforce.com is a plus.
	•	Project management experience is a plus

Director of Manufacturing Engineering
Duties And Responsibilities

	•	Oversee all aspects of manufacturing processes to support the on-time delivery for customer satisfaction, including the operations of manufacturing electronics instruments with surface mounting, component engineering, plastic injection molding, sheet metal, incoming inspection, engineering document control, quality control, product engineering.
	•	Manage the product engineering resource to support the production effectively and timely.
	•	Set up the projects to improve the performance of old products to reduce the cost.
	•	Cooperate with R&D to introduce the new products and run mass production smoothly.

Qualifications

	•	Bachelor or above in a relevant technical discipline (i.e. electronic engineering, mechanical engineering, automation engineering, etc.)
	•	10+ years experience working in same position
	•	Preferred SPC, 6 Sigma, 5S, JIT, lean management experience, MBA educated
	•	Familiarity correlative product knowledge and work

Sr. Hardware Engineer - Wireless
Duties And Responsibilities

	•	Work with marketing and engineering teams to define wireless fixed and portable products.
	•	Interface closely with sensor group, instrument group and third party wireless companies to develop wireless sensor devices.
	•	Work closely with software engineering teams to validate wireless sensor network from a system perspective.
	•	Complete design of board schematics and layout.
	•	Bring up and validate new sensor and wireless technology.
	•	Complete all deliverables and documentation required to release new board designs to production.
	•	Provide wireless system application support to China marketing.

Qualifications

	•	Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering with 5+ years hands-on experience in system and board development.
	•	Skilled in battery powered low-power and ultra low-power circuit design.
	•	Experience with firmware development. Understand embedded systems and can write C code to test and verify the hardware.
	•	Successful history in designing board-level schematics and routing wireless boards.
	•	Excellent board design CAD skills.
	•	Proven ability to rapidly turn a product concept into a high-quality, working board (i.e. in 1-2 months)
	•	Direct experience managing distributors, reps, vendors and service bureaus to acquire parts and to fab and assemble boards.
	•	Proven success bringing up and debugging new boards
	•	Experience in designing boards that meet EMI/EMC requirements
	•	RF systems design knowledge and experience with one or more of the following communications standards: IEEE 802.15.4 (Zigbee), IEEE 802.15.1 (Bluetooth), IEEE 802.11b/g, ISM band proprietary wireless system.869Mhz,915Mhz, 2.4Ghz, RFID

Sr. Mechanical Design Engineer
Duties And Responsibilities

	•	Analyze mold technology and structure for new products to improve the operation efficiency.
	•	Design and develop innovative, high quality products.
	•	Cooperate with SCM and SQE vendor selection and qualification.
	•	Support R&D on new product design including manufacturability design review.
	•	Responsible for mold verification and revision.

Qualifications

	•	At least 5 years experience in mechanical structure design.
	•	Bachelor degree or above, major in Mechanical Design, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent.
	•	Familiar with design for reliability & manufacturability, solid metal material and heat treatment process knowledge is preferred.

Firmware Engineer
Duties And Responsibilities

	•	Architect, design and implement embedded software, using C, assembly and embedded RTOS.
	•	Write low-level test applications to assist in debugging hardware designs with hardware engineers
	•	Test, document and support the developed applications
	•	Design, review and implement new product applications with co-development partners
	•	Share responsibility for both new product and product improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

	•	BS in an Engineering field (ME/EE/CS)

	•	Fluent in embedded C programming on 8/16/32 microcontrollers (PIC, MSP430, ARM), using RTOS environments.

Hardware Engineer
Duties And Responsibilities

	•	Upgrade products hardware circuit design includes Schematics, PCB layout and Debug.
	•	Develop Auto Test Equipment to increase test efficiency and to reduce test time.
	•	Enhance the existing test techniques for maximum test quality to increase test precision and production throughput.
	•	Analyze and solve technical problems encounter in the production with Production Engineer.
	•	Maintain test equipments and instruments.

Qualifications

	•	Major in Computer Science, Electronic of related majors, BS or higher degree in Electronics Engineering.

Sensor Hardware Engineer
Duties And Responsibilities

	•	Design sensors to meet instruments and customers’ requirement.
	•	Improve current products to meet new needs of the marketing.
	•	Develop sensor test methods and test tools.
	•	Write documents including: feasibility report, test report, evaluation report, verification report, application notes, etc.
	•	Communicate with marketing and manufactory group and instrument developing group for launching new sensors into the market at the timely manner.

Qualifications

	•	Bachelor or above in Physics, Electronic, Specialty of Observe and Control Technology and Instrument or relevant subject.

Product Engineer
Duties And Responsibilities

	•	Accomplishment of the management of task including validation and update all the technical document, validate and update of bill of material.
	•	Drawing: review of mechanical drawings, circuit diagram, label layout, etc.
